“Hibakusha”, more than the embryo, was the inspiration for the recording of our first album, “Istmo”, which will be released very soon.
The title of the track is the word used in Japanese to refer to "bomb victims", the survivors of atomic bombs dropped by the USA on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II. The reason for choosing this theme is a clear position against the belligerent and arms policies still advocated today by several countries. Including Brazil.
The instrumental adds new ingredients to the mix of post-punk, folk and dreampop with northeastern flavor, which defines the sound of the duo formed by Sofia França and Marcelo Rêgo. Oriental percussions and ambiences typical of Japanese new age float amid the chaos generated by the wave of distortion and resonance of guitars creating the perfect atmosphere to reinforce the historical and cultural references that “Hibakusha” aims to explore.
The single's cover features a painting by Pernambuco artist Bruno Vilela. In the image, the terrified look of a boy who seems to seek his father's hand and cannot find it. A reflection on the concept that the theme refers to and the devastating effects of the acts of war that affected several generations.
“Hibakusha" was recorded at SB Music Studio, in Casa Forte, North Zone of Recife, with the production in partnership with Sammy Barros. The song composed by Carlos H (who recorded some guitar lines), with lyrics by Marcelo Rêgo (vocal , guitar, guitar and bass), Sofia Sofia (backing vocals) and Dom Santana (violin), Valquiria Janie (cello), Filipe Fontes (percussion) and Rogério Lins (synth).
